Read this Facebook page, created by Florida parents, and you will never believe another of Jeb Bush’s boasts about what he accomplished as governor.
When he boasts about job creation in Florida, think about this: Jeb’s “Jobs” – low-paid service industry jobs that left many Floridians without health insurance and scrambling for affordable housing amid a real estate boom that helped fuel business-friendly tax breaks.”
If he boasts about higher education, remember that he raised tuition by 48%.

I wonder how Jeb! ever got elected as a governor. Superficially speaking (i.e. not focusing on his plutocratic neoliberal policies), he was getting smashed in the debates and has already bungled his campaign when he said he that he would support the Iraq War, that his brother Dubya is one of his top Middle East advisors, and said that “I’m not sure we need half a billion dollars for women’s health issues”. I almost feel sorry for him. But then I remember that he helped privatize public education in Florida and that his brother further destabilized the Middle East.

I feel sorry for him only inasmuch as his policies are so callous and he doesn’t know it. How I wish the scales would fall off his eyes!

How about the comment that his brother “kept us safe”? Didn’t 9/11, the most devastating attack ever on the U.S. mainland, happen on W’s and Condy’s watch?

If any one of the candidates dared to say that Dubya didn’t start office after September 12, there would be death threats to that candidate. It’s a sin to say that amongst Republicans. Couldn’t believe the more “enlightened” California Republicans would applaud Jeb’s atrocious lie.

This comment on the FB page regarding a post about failing charters is a great response to the argument “Failing charters will be closed”
“The article doesn’t mention the kids that are affected. It takes about 4 years to close a poor, mismanaged school. During that time the students at the school get little or no education. So when Johnny begins a horrible charter in the 3rd grade and the school closes 4 years later, he enters 7th grade in a public school at least 4 years behind”

I also don’t know how to email with a question but here it is. In GA the governor has hastily begun this program of converting the traditional dual enrollment program that a few accelerated high school students participated in if there was a local college where they could earn credit into a largely online list of college course offerings from many institutions that any 9-12th grader could take in place of high school classes. The state pays a standard fee for tuition and $75 for books–students pay nothing. Many of the independent colleges are scrambling to get into this market because it will leave them without students for essentially two years if high school students arrive with 2 years of college under their belts. I can’t understand the governor’s motives, who ordinarily is very edupreneurial/charter reform minded. Can someone explain the advantage for the state of having a large population of adolescents in high school and college simultaneously? I expect the high schools would still have to be funded at the same rate as they are now because the students are still enrolled. Of course colleges are concerned about the rigor and qualifications of contingent faculty who will be hired to teach these courses.

I just posted some Jeb disaster stories from this blog on their Facebook page to encourage more concerned parents to get informed and fight the power of $$. The more traffic we can drive here, the better the chance of getting parents to organize the fight back. You know mainstream media won’t be telling the story of Jeb’s misguided actions.
