Rahm Emanuel has distinguished himself by his sycophancy towards Chicago’s power elite. Here “The Nation” dissects his tawdry record.
The Chicago Teachers Union plans a voter registration drive to sign up new voters in the communities damaged by Rahm’s school closings.

Rahm is cold-hearted and a sell out to his community. Whatever can be done to get him out and affect any of his future political plans should be done. So, so disappointed in the President who hasn’t even commented on the largest closure of public schools on his watch. We must admit that he is complicit in this act since it happened. Destroying a thing doesn’t make it better, it makes it gone.

Cold-hearted, for sure. But I’m not sure sell-out is accurate first because Chicago isn’t and never has been his “community”. He’s lived in Winnetka for a long time and only pretends to love Chicago (Daley, for all his faults – and there were many – I think really did (does) love Chicago and has always considered it his home). And second because he never promised to do anything else. Rahm was very clearly anti-union, anti-teacher and anti-public school from the get-go. Anyone who voted for him should have known what they were voting for, unlike Obama (the first time around) who claimed to be pro-union (“comfy shoes”) and otherwise a true liberal.

Tell that to al-Awlaki’s 16-year-old son, Abdulrahman al-Awlaki, a U.S. citizen who was born in Denver, killed by a CIA-led drone strike in Yemen. (from wiki)

Ever since Daley took over the Chicago Schools in 1995 they have been a planned mess. None of this is an accident. Look at what they teach concerning economics at the University of Chicago and this is easy to understand. You have the elite who get what they want and the rest who are those who feed the pigs at the troth. Just that simple.
