It’s fair to say that without the big bucks support of half a dozen millionaires, this issue would not be on the ballot in November. Their contributions paid bounties to signature gatherers of about $4 @. Now, their contribution will fund ad campaigns in support of the initiative. Long gone are the days when Washington state’s initiative process was for the grassroots organizations. Now, it’s big money. And, like a recent liquor initiative, the backers may well stand to gain big bucks by the passage of the initiative.
I couldn’t get the link above to work but when I deleted the http:// as shown below it came right up.

Safe travels!
Wave at the city as you land. That’s where I’m from, went to University of Detroit-Mercy
Just landed, after three hours on runway due to weather. Will tell Detroit hello for you.

There must be someone who can fix Detroit.
That was a response to “I’m boarding a flight to Detroit and can’t fix” 🙂

The PAID signature gatherers here in Washington State were flat out lying to people when they were trying to get them to sign the petition. I got into several arguments with them when I encountered them feeding a line of BS to potential signers. Even now, the bulk of the media in Washington is oblivious as to the true facts about chartered in general and this initiative in particular. It is horribly written, with all kinds of loopholes to be exploited by unscrupulous charter organizations and individuals.
Sadly that’s the only way to collect signatures. Most voters do not have a clue about the under current. I hope the union will educate the public before November.
