If you want to hear about my new book, I will be discussing it at the Century Foundation, 1 Whitehall Street, in Manhattan on Monday, September 23 at 6 pm.
Admission is free but you must register.
The moderator will be Greg Anrig, who writes thoughtfully about education issues.
Some callers were told the event is sold out, but I understand that the foundation plans to add additional seating, so don’t give up.
Go Diane!
Hi Diane. I was so very happy to hear this, on behalf of a close friend in NYC who was frustrated that he didn’t get to see you this week.
So, I was jumping for joy when it appeared he would get another chance. But, just minutes ago, he registered and was told that your event on September 23 is ALREADY sold out! They allowed him to go on to the Wait List, which means he’ll only be able to see you if someone further up on the list withdraws.
However, I’m excited to know that there is so much interest in what you have to say. It appears that much larger arenas are going to soon be necessary.
I’m looking forward to seeing you in Madison Square Garden or Yankee Stadium; it may not be that far-fetched a thought!
Any more NYC Metro Area dates scheduled for this fall?
Puget Sound Parent,
I will be speaking at a book forum at Congregation Beth Elohim in Park Slope, Brooklyn, on October 8. David Denby of the New Yorker magazine will moderate and ask questions.
The address for the event on October 8:
Event Location: Congregation Beth Elohim
274 Garfield Place
Brooklyn, NY 11215
Event timeline: 7:30-9:00PM
I attended Diane’s lecture at Elmhurst College in Illinois, just a couple of days ago, in which she talked about the ideas in her new book. She’s a firebrand! Very exciting evening. During QA I wanted to ask what she thinks about Ron Clark. The Ron Clark Academy seems to cut across Diane’s views of reform. Is he part of the solution or part of the problem? However I didn’t get to ask because the line of impassioned people was too long in front of me.
I agree that it is great that this is Waiting List Only already–even though I wasn’t quick enough to get a ticket.
Still waiting for your Asheville date. Raleigh is too far a drive for a day trip. You must come on up to the mountains where we were voted most sinful city, or whatever it was. Beer City. Weird City. Whatever. Come on up. We need you here in Appalachia too.
Will you be coming back to St. John’s U in Queens??
Also I so wanted to comment on the NYTimes article about you. Leave it to the editors to not include any comments with that story. I hope you have another opportunity to be on Charlie Rose’s show as well.
Do I need to register somewhere for your visit to Seattle on the 26th?
My understanding is that the event at the U of Washington in Seattle is open to the public and free.
Great, thank you, looking forward to it!!
