Trump spoke tonight at an event in Washington, DC, focused on combatting anti-Semitism. According to The New York Times, Trump complained that he was getting only 40 percent of the Jewish vote. He warned that there would be terrible consequences if he lost, and “the Jewish people would have a lot to do with a loss if I’m at 40 percent.” What would happen? He said, “I believe that Israel will be wiped off the face of the Earth if I don’t win.”
Blaming “the Jews,” a small minority of Americans (about 2.5% of the population), for his possible loss, is a strange way to combat anti-Semitism. It sounds like a threat. We know what MAGA bullies do to people Trump threatens.
Here is a transcript of Trump’s remarks:
A poll just came out. I’m at 40 percent [of Jewish voters]. You can’t let this happen. 40 percent is not acceptable, because we have an election to win. If I don’t win this election – and I’ve been very good. You know, they say Trump’s been right about everything. I’ve been right about a lot of things. In my opinion, the Jewish people would have a lot to do with a loss if I’m at 40 percent. I believe that Israel will be wiped off the face of the Earth if I don’t win. And that’s a big statement. That’s a horrible statement to make. And it’s just the way I feel.

Hmmm, I wonder if online betting sites are taking bets on this, and what the odds are if that 40% starts shrinking.
Most people don’t react kindly to threats, which is Traitor Trump’s favorite weapon.

It’s a weird threat because there’s no one who can go into Jewish homes and warn people to vote for Trump. Or else. Mob threats don’t work.

Oh wait, Trump misplaced a decimal point and he has .4% of the Jewish vote, maybe.

I am doubtful about the “40% of Jews” supporting Trump and his folks who want to turn America into the Christian Nation of their dreams.
I am not even sure 40% of the Jews in Israel support Trumps BFF Netanyahu these days. And I don’t think the phone attacks are making Jewish Americans feel more supportive of Trump’s green light to Netanyahu.

Consider that many Evangelical voters support Israel primarily because they need the country for the mythical battle of Armageddon, and the Second Coming of Christ…

Speaking as a Christian, I support Israel because Israel is the Jewish homeland. Also, Israel is an island of sanity in the basketcase Middle East.

The Jewish Electoral Board did a survey this last July, and Biden had 72 percent of the Jewish vote, as opposed to Trump’s 22 percent. If anything, the numbers for Harris are probably HIGHER. And here’s the result of polls by Pew Research back in 2020:
“Pew Research Center surveys, including the 2020 study, show that Jews are among the most consistently liberal and Democratic groups in the U.S. population. Seven-in-ten Jewish adults identify with or lean toward the Democratic Party, and half describe their political views as liberal.
“This general inclination toward the Democratic Party and liberal values goes hand-in-hand with disapproval of former Republican President Donald Trump. In this survey, conducted roughly five to 12 months before the 2020 presidential election, nearly three-quarters of Jewish adults disapproved of the job Trump was doing as president, while just 27% rated him positively – far below the 65% who approve.”

If Trump is talking, he is lying. Just pulling it out of his arse.

Bob: Indeed, a gush of lies every day.
The problem is that the press listens and reports everything Trump says and does. You cannot turn on MSNBC, CNN, or even PBS and not see Trump’s face. Morning Joe is like: The Trump Show.
And when Trump is hogging the spotlight, people aren’t seeing or hearing Harris–and my guess is, that’s all he has left, and it’s what’s going on.
Besides that, the networks probably get more viewers because, like he is bullying Jews today, tomorrow with be something even more outrageous. Watching Trump is like watching a car wreck on the highway. No one can look away.
I’m disgusted by the whole thing, which is what he wants. For Trump, disgust and terror are a campaign methods. CBK

At the basis of being Jewish is the goal of Tikkun Olam, Repair the World. Jews who are atheists believe in this. Being observant is one thing but doing good is what does it. What good Jew can possibly support Trump?

God save us from those who want to turn the Land of the Free into a Christian nation. The Founders stressed freedom of religion. The word Christian does not appear even once in the Constitution.

I’m shocked that he expects to get 40% of the Jewish vote. I expect he will get the most Orthodox Jews. But they are not 40%. And no Jew I know can be bullied into voting for him. If he should win, he will give Netanyahu the green light to do whatever he wants.

Diane: Netanyahu acts like he already has a green light.
We don’t know what all is going on behind the scenes with the USA’s response to the carnage in Gaza, but the line in the sand is crossed for me with the optics of Biden feeling the Jewish pain from the 1940’s so much so that he is allowing Netanyahu to have that light, stuck on green. CBK

Diane is right. I live in the most diverse area of my city and it is highly populated by Jews, including many who are Orthodox and tRump supporters. I’ve spent the past 9 years trying to get through to them, including a key Orthodox rabbi in the neighborhood, and I’ve been much more able to reach the other Jews than the Orthodox. But I continue to feel compelled by a duty to warn my people, so I am not giving up!

Jews need only to ask themselves why they would support the same leader that Neo-Nazis adore. I think most have done so and, as a Jew myself, I encourage them to continue to do that.
The Hamas/Israeli conflict has complicated matters over the past year, but tRump is definitely lying about how much support he has today from American Jews. See: https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2024/09/09/white-protestants-and-catholics-support-trump-but-voters-in-other-us-religious-groups-prefer-harris/

Sorry, I have to correct myself since it would have been more accurate to say “Jews SHOULD need only to ask themselves…” because in my experience, in order to get through to Orthodox Jews, they need a whole lot more. They need proof that the unprincipled dictator-wannabe is not really on their side, because he has no moral compass and pledges allegiance only to himself.
So I’ve had to point out a lot of things about tRump to them. For example, like how at the “Unite the Right” march in Charlottsville VA, ostensibly to protest against the removal of Confederate statues, his Neo-Nazi (& KKK) followers marched with tiki torches at night chanting “Jews will not replace us!” And after protesters clashed with them the next day, tRump said there were “very fine people on both sides…”

BTW, I’m talking about Ultra Orthodox Jews, not Modern Orthodox, like Jared & Ivanka are, because they differ significantly. For example, Ultra Orthodox Jews tend to be very isolated and often don’t have TVs, so those I’ve spoken to didn’t see news footage of Charlottsville and tRump’s reaction. Much is online though & many have Internet, so I’ve frequently pointed them to websites.
