This is a very satisfying post at the blog “Crooks & Liars.”
The vandals and terrorists who invaded the U.S. Capitol took selfies and posed as they desecrated one of the nation’s greatest civic spaces. They were engaged in criminal trespass and, yes, the far more serious crime of sedition. They went to the Capital to disrupt a process ordained by the Constitution. They struck at our democracy. Many of their faces have been identified. They are being fired and arrested. They humiliated our democracy, endangered the lives of members of Congress and their staff. They broke the law. Anyone who participated in this violent assault on our Capitol should face serious jail time.
Unfortunately, they are being faced with minor charges: trespassing, disorderly conduct, and the like. Not one of them so far has been charged with sedition or anything consequential.
In addition to those listed in this post, Richard Barnett of Gravette, Arkansas, was arrested by the FBI. He was identified as the guy sitting in Nancy Pelosi’s office with his feet on her desk. Her laptop was reported missing.
A guy just elected to the West Virginia legislature live-streamed his participation. He was arrested at his home by the FBI.
The guy seen carrying the Speaker’s podium was arrested in Pinellas County, Florida.
Hundreds who stormed the Capitol will never be identified or charged.
They should all be identified, charged, tried, and face serious jail time for their role in this despicable siege of our Capitol.
There is a video on YouTube claiming that Antifa stole her laptop.
These people will stop at nothing to vilify anyone else but themselves.
Yes, whoever was talking, he’s nuts. My guess is that Comey is in contact with lawyers already to sue the pants off this guy.
Also, let the truth be told: I wonder if all of those on-film rioters who were arrested by the FBI are finally admitting that they are members of ANTIFA. CBK
Strange that so many Trump followers are Antifa. The FBI has not found one yet.
Antifa! Antifa!
The tin-foilers fret
Antifa! Antifa!
Haven’t found one yet
And strange that at least 3 major felonies one a murder were right wing agitators . The West Coast murder of a Federal Security Guard, 2 Proud boys charged. The Umbrella man who smashed the first windows in Minneapolis a Cop from out of town. The Police Precinct burned to the Ground by a proud boy charged . How many others?
Trump brought the racists and KKK out into the open.
Joel RUN! Antifa is everywhere! CBK

I would love to see the footage of BLM / Left Wing/ Antifa protestors assaulting the police in mass. I don’t think I will see that because i don’t think much exists . What does exist in NYC is endless video of Police assaulting protestors sometimes Kettling them in. A tactic where protestors are blocked from moving forward or back ordered to disperse and then prevented from doing so as they are assaulted by police, or rammed by a police cruiser. Then police bitch about being hit with a water bottle or a trash can in the confrontations .
The protests in NYC started 2 days after the Floyd killing. From the 28-th to the 31st peaceful protest turned violent almost always after violent police action.
The looting in NYC starts 4 days later on the 1st. Some of the criminals coming with cars for the loot. The vast majority having little to do with the protests.
In NYC the police drove by looters to assault peaceful protestors .
The NYS attorney generals preliminary report describes a situation where police abuse resulted in most violence .
Joel,
I was thinking about the same points you were making when I saw footage of the pro-Trump rioters. They all looked so angry just when they were marching and being treated with kid gloves.’
The BLM protesters looked serious and concerned, but not angry, except when the police were kettling them or attacking them.
There just seemed to be a stark difference. The pro-Trump supporters seemed brainwashed and reminded me of how the Germans looked in the old footage when Hitler was speaking.
While the BLM protesters’ expressions reminded me of the MLK-led Civil Rights marches and gatherings.
“A guy just elected to the West Virginia legislature live-streamed his participation. He was arrested at his home by the FBI.”
Is this guy a lawyer himself? He probably thought, since the president wanted it, it was okay. If these people thought it was wrong and that they could be arrested and prosecuted for it, would they have been so brazen about it? CBK
It would be nice if they would face some sort of substantial punishment for their seditious acts. However, we all know that that will NEVER happen. The same government that allows police officers to shed innocent blood without punishment or recourse will allow these “patriots” to get away with the first of many acts of insurrection.
They acted as a small military. Let the enlisted soldiers go home with minor penalties. Charge the officers with major crimes and even then, be particularly humane in the punishing. We must be careful not to overreact and allow this event to turn our own government into an overly empowered force of homeland occupation.
George Washington apoplectically exclaimed, “Good God!” Shay’s Rebellion actors were “combustibles”. James Madison wrote of their “insolence” and “treason”. Abigail Adams called the farmers “a deluded multitude” of “Ignorant, wrestless desperadoes, without conscience or principals.” They called for a strong federal government with a strong army in the new states to crush the rebellion and prevent any future insurrections.
Thomas Jefferson, however, wrote that the Shaysites had acted “in ignorance, not wickedness.” He did not want to create a large, standing army on our shores. He asked, “What country before ever existed a century and a half without a rebellion?” He even suggested, to calm the “uneasiness” of his Founding friends that a “little rebellion now and then is a good thing,” and, “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.” Love him or hate him, the author of the Declaration of Independence wanted a balanced approach to Shay’s Rebellion so that power would not be exploited in the future.
Sedition is a serious crime. So is intent to kidnap and possibly murder members of Congress. Although the Republican side is ready to all it a prank.
They are extremely serious crimes, and we should expect Republican whining to make little difference in court. The judicial branch has been supporting the Constitution lately, not President Fail.
Republicans have shown themselves to represent the basest depths of human nature, and it makes sense that Republicans lost the executive and legislative branches for at least the next two years. Democrats will be in control of two branches of government very soon. The fear and anger of Democrats must be brought under control so they can find a way to govern the 74 million (not The 74 Million, but lower case) who voted for Putin’s Plaything. Democrats must show this country how to be far more civilized than both their opponents and their enemies if the country is going to heal.
Thank you, Diane.
These people should be prosecuted along with any politicians who urged violence, just like any politician who urged violence in the cities during the BLM riots and protests should be prosecuted and removed from office. Urging any kind of violence should be against the law!
At the least, they could be flagged for getting gov jobs in the future, kept in lower ranks of military. FBI can’t look at the airline manifests and cross check camera footage with other social media posts?
Militia members and white supremacists need to be kept out of law enforcement. Apparently, some of these extremists have already infiltrated law enforcement. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/aug/27/white-supremacists-militias-infiltrate-us-police-report
Some have always been in law enforcement.
Reblogged this on dean ramser.
I am worried Trump will pardon these terrorists as his last Presidential act! 🤔😳😡
Nah he only thinks of himself or he would .
Joel Trump probably thinks they failed anyway. CBK
There is a post on Parler that asks people to post their personal information if they were there so “POTUS” can pardon them. I hear nearly three dozen have already done it. Cannot wait to find out who ends up in jail over it.
I am worried if Trump is not quickly removed from office, he will pardon the insurrectionists as his final act as President! 🤔😳😡
It’s quite possible that charges will be ramped up as investigations proceed. I think these charges are just intital charges. Some of these clowns will also start talking (even more than they publicly already have), which will help with identifying who to charge with higher level felonies.
If the desire to prosecute is there, many may be in for a world of pain. Phone company Cell phone location Data may not be available for prosecution, if those persons have not given permission for it to be shared. But a ton of apps on those phones that people have checked the box on are accessible by authorities.
And that data will be backed up by a ton of security footage. And publicly available videos taken off of social media and news media sources . Putting names to the faces on that media.
