Jonathan Pelto reports that Connecticut will no longer use scores on SBAC or SAT to evaluate teachers.
Since this approach has failed everywhere, this is a great development.
Every state should drop this failed methodology that was promoted by the Gates Foundation and Arne Duncan but has not worked.
In Colorado we need TEMP workers to grade tests at $12.50/hour. Wanna make a bundle and at the same time diss teachers, here is one for the pimps and whores.

Yvonne—Here in PA they advertise on craigslist- What a racket—Testing companies get teachers to proctor the exam and test scorers off craigslist. Time for this shame to end.

New Mexico just dropped the percentage from 50% to 35% due to political pressure. Next stop 0%.
Reblogged this on Exceptional Delaware 2017 and commented:
Delaware Legislators: Connecticut and Delaware often mirrored each other during Race To The Top and what came after. Let’s do it again!
In order for a win, we must see teacher evaluation based on testing go completely away. In order for a win, we must see the testing of all students go away completely, replaced by a random sample approach for thousands of dollars less.
So this is a good start.
Well in CA education no longer seems to matter since Governor Brown signed a Bill in 2015 to End High School Exit Exams.
So teachers don’t have to worry about being evaluated on those test scores since there are no test scores.
And no more proficiency.
Everyone gets a High School Diploma without any accountability whatsoever.
And it’s retroactive to 2008.
CA’s Jerry Brown is simply out of control when it comes to education.
Public school parents really need to pay attention to the huge sales push for “blended learning” in public schools.
You don’t have to agree to allow your school to be used as an experimental site for this.
This is the same kind of manic cheerleading we’ve seen so many times in ed reform over the last 20 years where they fall madly in love and no one questions any of it.
Don’t allow your district to over-invest in this. They have no idea if it has any value to students at all and they’re selling it so hard it is inevitable they will over-promise.
Don’t plow tons of money into this. If they want to experiment at wealthy private schools that’s their business but it’s irresponsible to conduct these experiments with public money on public school children. Don’t volunteer as the guinea pigs.

Yes!
To me it’s one of those “No shit Sherlock” moments.
