John Podesta, leader of Hillary Clinton’s campaign, commented on the Letter written by FBI Director John Comey.

Friend —
By now, you’ve probably heard some news about a bewildering letter sent to Congressional leaders by the Director of the FBI.
This is all a bit confusing, and much of the reporting has been misleading or downright inaccurate, so I want to take a minute to walk through this. Bear with me!
Here’s the quick backstory: In July, FBI Director James Comey concluded a year-long investigation by deciding not to go forward with any case about Hillary’s emails. It wasn’t even a close call, he said. In his words, “no reasonable prosecutor” would have brought charges.
Yesterday, in a surprise to us all, Comey wrote a very strange letter to Congress that was long on innuendo and short on facts. He said that in a completely separate investigation, the FBI had found some emails that may or may not be related to Hillary, and indeed may or may not be significant at all.
It’s since been reported that these emails may not have even been sent by or to Hillary; that they weren’t withheld by Hillary or the campaign in the earlier investigation; and most or even all of them may be duplicates of emails already in the FBI’s possession.
It’s being reported that Comey sent this letter over the objections of Department of Justice officials who told him that it was inconsistent with longstanding policy of both Democratic and Republican administrations not to take action that might impact an election. It’s an unprecedented intrusion into a close presidential election with 10 days until Election Day.
But by being vague and obfuscating, Comey opened the door to conspiracy theories, Republican attacks against Hillary, and a surge of fundraising for Trump and his team. So this bears repeating: There is no evidence of wrongdoing, no charge of wrongdoing, and no indication that any of this even involves Hillary.
Voters deserve answers.
Comey needs to come clean with the American people about what he found and answer all the questions about why he took this unprecedented step less than two weeks before the election.
Here’s what this changes for you and this campaign: Absolutely nothing.
Trump has spent more than a year trying to bully his way to the presidency. He’s been browbeating the FBI (indeed, many have speculated that Comey took this extraordinary action in part to reduce the pressure on his agency that Trump’s campaign and his Republican Congressional allies has been building up), leading crowds in chants of “lock her up,” and even saying Hillary should be in prison — and if he won, he’d put her there.
The facts be damned — Trump’s always shown a complete disregard for the truth. In spite of there being no new information, he’s already raising money off the bizarre letter (he literally sent a text message asking for money within an hour of the story breaking!) and he’s more fired up than ever on the trail today.
These are the actions of a desperate man. Trump knows he can’t win on his character, temperament, or his policies. He’s behind, so he’ll cling to whatever he can.
So, no, our strategy doesn’t change. But our intensity needs to, because we can’t let him get away with this.
Our organizers and volunteers on the ground are rallying behind Hillary in what will be the biggest volunteer weekend of the campaign so far. You need to get her back, too. You need to say you’re not willing to let Trump bully or buy his way into the presidency, and you’re not going to let anything stop us from making history.
There are ten days to go. Let’s buckle down, stay focused, and win this.
Thanks,
John

Comey might as well be working for the Trump campaign. For the average person, not paying close attention, this latest “revelation” would imply that Hillary is guilty of further crimes and obfuscations. Except, there’s nothing there and whatever is there in this latest batch of emails needs further investigation. So shut up already. Whatever you think of John Podesta, he does not lie all the time: “Yesterday, in a surprise to us all, Comey wrote a very strange letter to Congress that was long on innuendo and short on facts. He said that in a completely separate investigation, the FBI had found some emails that may or may not be related to Hillary, and indeed may or may not be significant at all.”

From raw story: Yahoo News reporter Michael Isikoff attempted to question FBI officials about the contents of the emails alluded to by Director James Comey on Friday, but found that the officials themselves have yet to view the emails. So far, they’ve been unable to obtain legal authorization to do so. [snip]
Isikoff noted that the fact that the FBI has no idea of the contents of the emails is important because members of Donald Trump’s media team have insisted that the FBI would not be reopening the investigation if it hadn’t found something significant.
Comey’s decision to notify Congress about emails of which he neither knows the contents or pertinence has proven controversial and some have speculated that his motivations are political.

I apologize for all the posts from raw story but for some reason the posts were not taking so I kept trying and now I see that they indeed did all come through. I guess a minor glitch in the system?

After being in Obamaland for 8 years, teachers know that, for practical purposes, Hillary and Trump are more of the same. I do not understand how NEA can ask to vote for Clinton after all the damage caused by policies implemented by Bill Clinton-Bush-Obama. Perhaps voting Jill Stein – Green Party may bring some decency and extirpate corruption from education policies.

Bob,
Jill Stein is polling at 1%.
The race between Hillary and Trump is very close. Trump promises vouchers and charters.
Hillary is better than him on every issue.
Don’t waste your precious vote. Unless you like the sound of “President Trump.”

Education as a Right is Green Party (Jill Stein) Education Platform.
I support this platform and not the hedge managers behind Hillary and Trump:
Guarantee tuition-free, world-class public education from pre-school through university.
Abolish student debt to free a generation of Americans from debt servitude.
Protect our public school systems from privatization.
Use restorative justice to address conflicts before they occur, and involve students in the process.
Evaluate teacher performance through assessment by fellow professionals. Do not rely on high stakes tests that reflect economic status of the community, and punish teachers working in low income communities of color.
Replace Common Core with curriculum developed by educators, not corporations, with input from parents and communities.
Stop denying students diplomas based on high stakes tests.
Stop using merit pay to punish teachers who work with the most challenging student populations.
Restore arts, music and recreation to school curriculums.
Ensure racially inclusive, sensitive and relevant curriculums.
Use Department of Education powers to offer grants and funding to encourage metropolitan desegregation plans based on socioeconomically balanced schools.
Recognize poverty as the key obstacle to learning. Ensure that kids come to school ready to learn: healthy, nourished, secure and free from violence.
Increase federal funding of public schools to equalize public school funding.

Bob: you make many excellent points with which I agree. I might just quibble a bit with, “Evaluate teacher performance through assessment by fellow professionals.” I’m not sure if this would work. Teachers are busy teaching all day, they are doing lesson planning, marking hundreds of papers daily, calling parents, going to meetings, etc. Where do they get the time to sit and observe a fellow teacher? Who will cover their class while they are observing and evaluating a fellow teacher? Will they be paid extra for this extra duty? Lots of questions about the inner workings of this new responsibility.
Jill Stein is a good progressive but sadly doesn’t stand a chance to win. She’s not even on the ballot in all the states.

I understand that your decision rule is that you vote for the one who has a chance to win in the next election.
I respect your criteria but I do not share it. No social struggle will develop if everybody behaves in that way.
Clinton for me represents the system that oppressed me (and oppressed thousands of teachers) in the different schools in which I had to teach because I was “not effective” according to the reform dogma. I am not going to vote for the same guys that promoted the elimination of professional respect to teachers, eliminating for example, tenure, and changing teachers into mere clerks.
My decision is never again. I am not going to vote for the political partners of “reform education”.

Are you working for communists and fascists? Please travel to Greek, turkey, Brasil, China, Cuba and Russia if you could in order to have wide eye opened.
If you are educators by trade, then you really need to cultivate the meaning of humanity and civility. Most of all, you must improve your logical and critical analysis.
You should ask you a question WHY all dictators flee to USA and Canada for protection under humanitarian Act?
It is too spoiled for all intelligent, but GULLIBLE people who are in day dream to have LIP-SERVICE platform as in reality.
Con artists always show their true identities through the conflict between their words and their actions at work, among their chosen political party’s ideology and within their real living lifestyle.
We need decent, intelligent and working experience politician’s leadership.
There is no argument that Secretary Hillary who is already endorsed by Senator Bernie Sanders, by Senator Elizabeth Warren, and by AFT, NEA leaders, is qualified for the job of being President of America.
Please, can you express all qualifications in Trump, Stein, and Johnson with regard of experience in both American domestic and foreign POLICIES?
Particularly, in the spirit of family, her love, patience and care for spouse and her daughter is excellent. I do not see other presidential candidate can come close to Secretary Hillary Clinton. Family is the smallest unit in society. Other Presidential candidates did not value the love in family through divorce = cannot be PATIENT enough to have their own UNIFIED and loving family.
How would voters trust Presidential candidate who is cold and harassed their spouse(s) through intimidation and force, like Trump? Back2basic

Hillary is manipulated and funded by the same billionaire interests that promoted the highly-corrupt “reform education” in the last 20 years.
I am not going to vote for those who implemented the “reformed” system that TORTURED teachers in the last 20 years. No, my friend. I am not a masochist. I am not going to vote for TFA or companies selling their “evaluation tests” when my school district is having problems to buy paper for everyday copying.
Many “reform” oriented bureaucrats inspired their action on “student learning objectives”, for example, inspiring themselves on the planning system of the Soviet Union.
I am not a communist nor a fascist, like Hillary doing what she did in Libya, killing Gadhafi and saying later “we came, we saw, he died”. What is Libya today after Gadhafi? A total mess.

It is no secrete that I have been a critic of Clinton all along. I despise the Clinton’s on policy not on character. On character they represent more of the same that we have come to associate with a broken system in Washington and the Nation.
Worse on character they represent the swamp hole that the Democratic party under their leadership has fallen into, where the interests of the working class are subjugated to the interests of their corporate donors and Billionaire friends.
However make no mistake the Democrats have come late to this game and are novices as compared to the Republican party ,who make no pretense as to who they represent . Whose policy has and will devastate working class voters . Who have used racial dog whistles for years to somehow hypnotize working class voters to support policy that will devastate them . My problem with the Clinton’s / Obama was that if I had wanted a Republican I could have voted for them.
So when the choice was the Socialist Jew from NY ( I can say that I identify with Bernie on both those descriptions) or the Clinton’s it was hands down Bernie . When the choice was Hillary or the fascist ,demagogue, narcissist, misogynist, billionaire. Hillary begrudgingly got my vote .
In the 90’s my head spun with each policy that Clinton initiated yet I voted for him twice . When the Republicans went after him for an inappropriate sexual affair, to my dismay , I had to rally to his defense . It was one of the few things he did, that did no harm to the tradition of FDR that the party had represented. It was none of my (four letter word) business. So the Republicans made me an avid Clinton supporter.
Here we go again, when James Comey spoke in July. I was livid. After the cake was baked and Clinton was the inevitable candidate of the Democratic party . He refuses to indict her, yet he tries her in the court of public opinion. That was beyond the pale. My gut reaction, he was trying to fix the election after the primaries. I was not at all surprised when several progressive writers came to the same conclusion . What he did on Friday doubled down on my disgust. For all we or he knows those emails are an order for pizza or the shopping list for a cocktail party. This is beyond outrage and it is hard to see that this was not politically motivated especially en-light of his earlier actions. Hopefully Hillary wins, Obama appointed him, what a fool appoints a partisan Republican to a high office, they would never do the same . Comey was a Republican appointee to one the furthest right wing justice departments we have ever seen. One that went looking for voter fraud for 5 years to suppress the minority vote in order to shift future elections and found a few dozen ex convicts ineligible to vote.
It is up to Obama to correct this after the election. Comey should be fired and a special prosecutor appointed to investigate Comey’s actions. This is despicable, most despicable that again it is Republican actions that have made me an avid supporter of Hillary . No wonder she had a private server. You or I under a 30 year assault would do the same.

Is Podesto seeking credibility from voters in places like Ohio? If so, insignificant me, will forget that Hillary’s Ohio campaign manager is the son of venture capitalists, who got a plum job, along with his wife, in tax-funded federal positions, after working on Obama’s campaign, etc., if Podesto will act upon one of the following 3 observations.
(1) Podesto’s appearance, with Jeb Bush and Chester Finn, seeking money for privatizing candidates, is a stab in the back of the American people because the agenda destroys the most important common good. (2) Hillary could consider severing ties with the Gates-funded Center for American Progress and its leadership. CAP could be encouraged to identify the 3 anonymous donors at the million dollar level. (3) Hillary could consider an announcement, prior to the election, that she plans to seek the wise counsel of Dr. Ravitch, in education matters.
