A long list of people who worked in the campaigns or government offices of George H. W. Bush, George W. Bush, Mitt Romney and John McCain issued a statement endorsing Kamala Harris yesterday. The full list appeared in USA Today. Many, but not all, of the group opposed Trump’s re-election in 2020. No comparable group of Obama-Biden alumni has endorsed Trump.

I really don’t understand why you think it’s a good thing that so many neocons are rallying behind Harris. Of course they are. Because Harris herself is a neocon.

It’s a good thing that Harris wants to win and is attracting the allegiance of dissident Republicans. That’s called coalition-building. Ideologues remain pure and lose.

For the few Republican votes you might be getting, you’re losing thousands of progressive and leftist votes. Why insist on going after the votes of people who think you’re a bunch of commies, rather than give people what they need and guarantee the votes of people on the left half of the spectrum? Oh, yeah, because that’s not what the donors want.
In any case, please don’t ever pretend that you opposed anything in the Bush years and don’t complain if Harris gets elected and we get the Bush years all over again.

“Harris herself is a neocon” – more falsehoods.
These Republicans are making it clear that they have strong disagreements with Kamala on POLICY, but they are willing to vote for her for the good the country, because the one thing they DO have agreement on is their belief in democracy.
It is absolutely true that Bernie Sanders and AOC are “no different” than the neocons who have rallied behind Harris because they all share a belief that democracy is better than authoritarianism.
It is absolutely true that the few on the left who are so strangely enamored of Putin do NOT share the value that democracy is better than authoritarianism. They just keep shouting that there is no difference between the two and Americans and Russians are both equally free to live the lives they choose or elect the candidates they choose. Sometimes they actually claim that Americans and Russians are equally PROHIBITED from electing the candidates they want, and living the life they choose, because they believe that defenestration and poisoning your political rivals or (if they are being kind) just “locking them up” is no different than rich people having far too much influence. And those folks are desperate to make sure rich people have even MORE influence in America so they can blame someone else for their own decision to help rich authoritarian folks have more power and end democracy.
There really is no other explanation for their actions in 2016 when they focused only on defeating the Democrat and normalizing the Republican, DESPITE the Supreme Court being divided 4-4 with an open seat and the next president having the power to nominate a justice who would help end Citizens United and preserve voting rights, or the power to appoint a justice who would ENSHRINE those and make even more draconian decisions enabling corporate greed and right wing rule over democracy.
This person is correct that those on the left who believe democracy is expendable will be turned off by the Democrats and the rational Republicans who value it. But fortunately, most on the left are like Bernie Sander and AOC and they ALSO value democracy. The remaining Putin-admiring folks on the left who are so admiring of authoritarian leaders and always excuse their most reprehensible behavior will NEVER vote for Kamala and if Kamala starting embracing the view of the folks on the left who hate democracy, she would lose, because Putin-admirers will NEVER believe she is one of them, but the rest of us – from Bernie and AOC to these Republicans – would know that Putin had captured both the Republican and the Democratic party.
Thankfully that won’t happen.
There is a reason that Kamala rejected the “advice” to have a “unity” Republican or Independent VP and chose a VP who believes not just in democracy, but in progressive values.
That’s why those who hate democracy on the far, far left have joined the Trump-Republicans in hating the Dems and working to defeat them.
There’s “no discernible difference” between the far, far left and the Republicans because they all hate democracy and excuse authoritarianism.

While I do not think Kamala Harris is a neocon, what would be wrong with that if she was?
Compared to dictator loving, want to be a dictator, malignant narcissist, serial liar, lifelong cheater, even at golf, convicted rapist, convicted fraud and convicted felon Traitor Trump, even a neocon would be an improvement.
“Neoconservatives tend to want more efficient government agencies; Paleoconservatives want fewer government agencies. [Neoconservatives] generally admire President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and his heavily interventionist New Deal policies.”
And then there is this: “Prediction: Here’s How Social Security Will Change If Kamala Harris Beats Donald Trump | Nasdaq”
… “Social Security changes Harris might want to make
“Vice President Harris hasn’t provided full details on her platform yet. However, we can make some reasonable educated guesses about which Social Security changes she might want to make if elected president.
“In 2019, Harris — then a U.S. senator representing California — co-sponsored a bill to reform Social Security. This plan called for increasing the payroll contribution base for Social Security to $250,000. It would also tax investment income for high earners, including capital gains, dividends, interest, and rental income.
“The Social Security reform featured several provisions that would boost benefits. They included increasing the minimum benefit and changing the cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) calculation method to better reflect the costs incurred by seniors. …
And what about health care?
Kamala Harris has outlined several key initiatives to improve health care and lower its costs:
What about housing and the homeless?
Vice President Harris’s campaign unveiled an ad Tuesday that highlights her plan to lower housing costs and end the housing shortage, with the Democratic nominee putting a personal spin on the proposal.

Still, even if Kamala says she wants to do that, that does not mean she will get support from Congress, which she will need for that legislation.
Then there is the barrier of the six extreme right fascist leaning US Supreme Court Justices Harris will have to deal with.
What about public education?
Education has been a significant interest of Kamala Harris since early in her career

Everything Kamala allegedly wants to accomplish as president will be an uphill battle one way or the other, because the forces of fascism are now baked into the system, as they continue building a real deep state, and stronger than ever thanks to Traitor Trump.

This would have a lot more weight if Mitt Romney, Liz Cheney, George, Laura and Jeb Bush had signed on. I think we know where Cindy McCain stands, but not one of the many people that worked in the tRump White House, that have denounced him, have signed on or said they are voting . for Harris/Walz. For many of the intentionally ill-informed, they don’t really care about any of the former staffers. But I do think it would help if Mitt Romney and the Bushes all signed on to Harris/Walz. The New Yorker had an excellent article about low-information voters this week.
I will see if I can put the URL here: https://www.newyorker.com/news/letter-from-the-south/among-americas-low-information-voters
It may be behind a paywall, but hopefully you will be able to read this.

I agree, Granny. Harris should win the endorsement of all Republicans who want to restore the name and integrity of their party. That includes the Cheneys, the Bushes, and Romney.
