Worth listening too. I especially like the notion of schools being a part of the community, for everyone to learn from, contribute to, enjoy. We survive and thrive when there is broad connection between schools and the community, when those without school-age children feel that the schools matter—I’m not talking about property values here. I’m talking about an ethical and moral responsibility to all our children and to future generations. Again, in the market system Jonathan Alter, Cory Booker and others seek to visit upon us, the dynamics have everyone thinking of themselves and getting theirs, rather than contributing a voice, a vote, an advocacy for the schools/community. This atomizing goes against the interests of our society and the individuals in it. HRC said stronger together, and she is right about that. Lets see if she really believes in that “village” Ive been hearing about.
