Make a contribution to the Brady Center, which works against guns and the NRA.
Gun advocates think he answer is that everyone should pack a weapon. They want armed teachers and principals. Shoot outs in school.
How about if no one had a gun except law officers?
Give a gift to the Brady Center to honor those you love and to honor those who died in Newtown, the babies and their teachers and principal.
To understand part of the problem of trying to get meaningful gun control laws, see the New York Times,12/16/12, Business section: “Gun Reform not a cause on Wall St” by Andrew Ross Sorkin
I actually heard someone, a caller from the public, on a call in talk radio station suggesting that the remedy would be teachers trained in weapons use and armed in the classroom. And when the host asked how that would be controlled so that kids do not gain access to the firearms, his response was that a police officer has a gun, and officers are capable of keeping their firearms out of the reach of kids. So, this is how some folks think. Look at Yahoo news on yahoodotcom, and you can see Yahoo News actually taking some of these idiots seriously. Why do people opposed to gun control make the conversation seem as if gun control advocates will necessarily take their guns away? (An aside: Why can’t we ban assault rifles?) And for handguns, why can’t we have a system where they are registered, licensed and controlled, like automobiles, motorcycles, boats, ships and airplanes? Why does the media pay much less attention to the gun violence in urban areas and “ghetto areas” compared to the violence in white-dominated communities? In the past week or so, shooters have shot multiple people in Alabama and other places all over the United States. We do not have gun control in the United States because white gun fanatics residing in areas that are reasonably safe are vocal, organized, strongly opposed and financial supporters of the N.R.A. Meanwhile, young people are dying in places like Oakland, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and many other urban areas. Why does our country make it possible for a 14-year-old to obtain a gun?
Q: “Why does our country make it possible for a 14-year-old to obtain a gun?”
A: “Because too many people IN our country, think like 14-year-olds.”
