Trump Blasts DeSantis

November 10, 2022 10:00 pm

The Miami Herald reported that Trump lashed out at his rival, Ron DeSantis:

Former President Donald Trump blasted Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday, issuing a lengthy statement that called the Florida GOP leader an “average Republican governor with great public relations” and accused him of “playing games” over a potential future presidential bid. Trump, who reiterated his previous “Ron DeSanctimonious” nickname in the press release, said DeSantis owes his entire political career to the former president’s past support of his campaign — something the former president says the governor now takes for granted. “The Fake News asks him if he’s going to run if President Trump runs, and he says, ‘I’m only focused on the Governor’s race, I’m not looking into the future,’” Trump said. “Well, in terms of loyalty and class, that’s really not the right answer.”

  1. “Most thieves lack a sense of honor and are not to be trusted.”

Synonyms for thieves: criminal, crook, swindler, cheat, fraud, et al.

Traitor Trump and Deranged DeSantis fits that proverb, that dates back to at least to Cicero, an orator and politician in ancient Rome.

  2. Trump shouldn’t bother to talk about loyalty and class as he has neither. If these two blowhard egomanics get involved in a war of words, Democrats should sell tickets as a fundraiser.

  5. Could Trump possibly run as third party candidate. If his 35% fanatic base held, do the math. He wins if the other candidates evenly split the balance of the votes. It would be interesting to know what he would call his party.

    1. Actually, if Trump’s base stuck with him in a 3 way race, it would be very unlikely that anyone would get the required 270 electoral votes, which means the House would vote on who becomes President from the top 3, with each state getting just one vote.

That would probably not be a pretty outcome, any way you look at it.

  8. You know, SomeDam, I thank you for reminding me of the screwed up way the president would be “elected” if no one gains sufficient electoral votes. What a mess!

But here’s another possibility: With all the inner-directed rancor in the Republican party, a strong case can be made for Liz Cheney to announce her run as an Independent. She would fill the void left when the Republicans self-destruct and the Dems can’t find a viable candidate in 2024.

Cheney’s appeal would be strong for having risen above partisan politics and put country above politics. Even people who despised her father and her own conservatism have to admire her opposition to Trump–a woman of principle, a profile in courage–a woman who could say she was putting “democracy on the ballot.”

  9. Good, let these 2 gargoyles rip each other to shreds. So far, it’s a one-sided war with Trump firing all the salvos and Ron D. remaining silent. Will it be the Trump-GOP versus the DeSantis-GOP? Looks like Ron is too gutless to counter attack but he is still hugely popular in FL, as is Trump. What will all the voters who voted for these 2 scum do? Ah, so sad, I will shed one tear as I am laughing myself silly.

    2. I have no idea whether the reason for De S’s silence is he’s speechless (unlikely), didn’t get around to it, or strategy.
If, by some uncharacteristic inspiration, it’s strategy, it’s brilliant (though I question whether he’s that bright, or has the necessary capacity for restraint). The one thing Mr. P. Grabber absolutely can’t deal with is being ignored; he’d find it absolutely infuriating.

With no real power, & his former omnipotence with The Base clearly over, there’d be no effective way to counter.

“Mr. De S, do you have any response to _______’s comments about you?”
“Honestly, my attention’s focused on *important
things for Florida & the country.”
      OR
“I don’t know who that is. Next question?”*

Devastating. AND it’d be fun to watch!😀

I actually doubt other people are feeding them to him. It seems to be one of his true talents. I doubt anyone else could be so crass.

There seems to be a consistency there. Consistently insulting, belittling and annoying.

It is an act of pure dominance. Never let anyone get away with this, because the “namer” has shown you who he/she is (an asshole).

      4. Coming up with names for Trump has been quite therapeutic for me. I so totally loathe this career criminal, traitor, and predator. O for a muse of fire to capture him most succinctly–this quintessence of all that is repellent, this exemplar without parallel of all of the seven deadly sins–vanity, greed, sloth, lust, gluttony, avarice, and ire.

      6. Mostly, for me, theta, it is sadness that so many other Americans cannot see him for what he is; shock that our intelligence services and now, the DOJ, have so failed us; and fear and horror about what is to come after him, one as amoral and self-serving and cruel as Trump is but who is much, much smarter.

      7. I’m more optimistic. I think the voters said “Enough!”

It could have been much better, surely, but a Republican rout was threatened and largely expected. The rejection of so many deniers and loons is significant. The Republicans played it worse than we knew. We played it better than expectations, too.
