Paul Vallas is running for mayor of Chicago again. Mercedes Schneider warns the voters of the Windy City to beware.
When Vallas ran before, he garnered only 5% of the vote. But this time, he is a contender. Vallas has a long record in education. He has imposed privatization wherever he went, or in the case of New Orleans, happily advanced the privatization agenda.
She begins her post:
In January 2018, I posted about Paul Vallas, who was at the time dropping hints about becoming Chicago’s next mayor. Vallas ran and lost, winning only 5.4 percent of the vote in the February 2019 general election.
Four years later, in January 2023, Vallas is considered a real possibility (see also hereand here) for at least landing in a mayoral-race runoff following Chicago’s February 28, 2023, general election.
Vallas as mayor would be bad news for Chicago. Full stop. On January 24, 2023, the Chicago Tribune posted this benign candidate bio for Vallas, but don’t be fooled, Chicago. Vallas is anything but benign.
Chicago voters need to be informed about what they would be getting should Vallas become mayor. Therefore, I am reposting some of the Vallas history I posted four years ago, in 2018.
Vallas is terrible with budgets and with fulfilling promises, but through it all, he has managed to serve and protect his own interests.
Please open the link and read her summary of Vallas’ career.
I wonder how much dark money flowed from the Koch and Walton fascist propaganda machines for the last few years through traditional media and social media to change any public views about Vallas.
Putin isn’t the only liar out there spreading lies and misinformation to support his goal to become the only global super power.
I wonder why there are so many Black candidates and only one white candidate running. I smell billionaires triangulating.
It’s a crying shame that it’s not smart to vote for Chuy this time, but VALLAS MUST BE DEFEATED. Vote for Lightfoot! She’s not the lesser of two evils. Vallas is evil.
As with all prominent privatizers, he is demonstrative of a classic falling upward career path. Nice work if you can get it, I guess. And sleep with it.
I highly recommend that you forward this post to all voters you know in Chicago. Also, search all of Diane’s posts in the “Search All Posts” box below the comments RE: Paul Vallas for more information–lots from Jon Pelto RE: Bridgeport, CT situation, some w/more in-depth RE: Philadelphia &, then, at least one about the PV Chicago scandal connection w/SUPES jailbirds (Gary Solomon,& partner/Barbara Byrd Bennett).
Again, please forward it all to your Chicago friends, relatives, colleagues, neighbors/former neighbors. Tell them to write letters to the editor, call in to radio shows, etc. This info is NOT getting into the Chicago papers or by way of ANY msm, so Chicago voters generally are not aware of any of this, just what they’re being told–extensive leadership, governmental experience & blah, blah, blah…
He’s quoted as being 100% behind school choice (pro charter school & pro-vouchers).
&, BTW, he was just endorsed by our conservative paper, The Chicago Tribune, on Sunday (more people read {& subscribe to}the Sunday papers) in an almost full page section, w/a huge picture & a cartoon depicting him as “Mr. Fix-It,” while Mayor Lightfoot is shown behind the “rubble” of City Hall, telling him to go away, he’s not needed to fix anything.
(The more liberal Chicago Sun-Times is partly union-owned–not by the CTU, of course–& has also become a 501C-3 in order to keep going, so it’s non-partisan & doesn’t endorse.)
